No roof. No food.

Los Angeles has the highest homeless population (what is that number? source, data?). We see them in the streets, underneath freeways etc. It has no ethnic background or age (what do you mean here?  What is "it"?). It can include men, women and children. - these last sentences are a little confusing.  I think you mean to talk about how being homeless can happen to anyone regardless of their background, age, or gender...?  Clarify this and add to it by back yourself up-  what are the demographics of homeless here in California?  Build up some background info here.

Its always easy to pretend like we don't see them. (I'm moving these two section together because it seems like you could connect these ideas in some way)
Not all homeless people are bad news. We have a tendancy to judge them base on their appearance.
-here you touch on the idea of negative stereotypes and assumptions and the way they affect us negatively.
- develop this more 1) how stereotypes are created 2) how they stick around 3) how they affect us (ignore the homeless of judge based on appearance)

When you see a homeless person, we don't know whats their story as to why they are living in the streets. It can be a runaway teen, coming from an abusive home. Many fact could be named as to why they become homeless. Alot go homeless because they lose their jobs. Which means no roof over their head and no food to eat. Many are asking for money to buy food yet were a bit hesitant to help out because we think they might use it for drugs and alcohol.  Another one might be because of a mental disability such as a veteran coming home from war.

By personal experience (how is this personal experience if you are mentioning some one else's story?) some are nice like John who has consideration for the people where he sleeps on the sidewalk yet theres others that have a bad attitude, no respect and bad manners.
John proves that not all homeless people are bad. This proves how we can stereotype the homeless.
-remember your audience does not know who John is or his story.  If you are going to use him in your final article you are going to have to introduce him and develop his story.

Another major issue regarding homelessness is drugs and alcohol. We really dont know why there drug addicts or alcoholics. It might be something that happened in their life that had great impact so they turn to drugs and alcohol causing them to be homeless.
-are you going to keep this thought for your final article?  how does this tie in to your overall focus/position, which seems to be the negative stereotypes and representations of the homeless and how they affect the way we understand and interact with them

We should feel luck to have a roof over our head and food in our table because there are people that are less fortunate.
