Jamila Lyiscott says “this is not a promotions of ignorance this is a linguistic celebration.” Which is similar to what Gloria Anzaldua expresses at the end of How to Tame a Wild Tongue. She says “ We became aware of our reality and acquired a name and a language that reflected that reality.”(Anzaldua 44) I believe they both embraced where they came from and what that had turned them into. I grew up in South Texas and have a Mexican back ground just like Gloria Anzaldua. But unlike her I didn’t go through the difficult times of having to switch back and forth from English to Spanish. I only speak English, and I think only one form of it. However,  I was exposed to people speaking that way and it feels to me as common as someone speaking regular English. Maybe the times are different from when Anzaldua wrote that. I don’t feel like people hide or feel ashamed of speaking that way anymore. At least not where I’m from.
