In Jamila Lyiscott 3 ways to speak English she says ‘I speak 3 tongues, one for each, home,
school, and friends.’ I personally don’t think that she speaks three languages; I think she speaks in one and modifies it to fit the situation. Just because she is speaking informally with her friends and formally at work means she speaking 2 different languages. Jamilia only speaks one language, English. Gloria Anzaldua basically does the same; she states ‘I picked up Pachuco.’ Pachuco is a modified version of both English and Spanish. Pachuco isn’t a real language; it is just a way they speak because they weren’t able to speak either properly.
