This assignment was very hard for me because it was difficult to find a song that pertained directly to the social issue of death with dignity.  I searched many different things such as "songs related to death with dignity social issue" and also tried searching "songs related to ending suffering".  Many songs I found were mainly about experiencing the death of a loved one or heartbreak of a breakup but then I stumbled along a song called "My Suffering" by Dead by Sunrise.  Although this song is not primarily about the social issue of death with dignity I believe the lyrics can be applied to this social issue.  Here is a link to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfP_3CdOS3w
The reason this song relates to the social issue of death with dignity is because it talks about someone who is suffering and how they dream to not suffer any longer.  This is how someone who is ill and cannot make the decision to die with dignity most likely feels.  Someone who does not have a choice at least to end their suffering most likely feels lost and hopeless which is why it is so important to have this option.  One lyric says "I've seen the devil in a smile.  I found salvation in a vial.  My happy ending exists.  Only in my dreams"  The vial they could be speaking about although this could relate to a drug addict as well could be the vile of their medication that will let them stop suffering and die peacefully.

The piece of art that I found in regards to this social issue is a cartoon comic that is shown above.  The woman's sign says "Support the Right to Die" and the man's sign says " I support the right to needlessly suffer".  This relates to the social issue of death with dignity because most people who oppose people having this option do not have reasoning besides religious reasoning.  People who oppose this are literally saying that people should have to suffer when already terminally ill for no reason whatsoever.  The only thing I do not agree with or like about this comic is the button on the woman's shirt that says "Yes to assisted suicide".  I do not agree with the pin on her shirt most supporters of Death with Dignity try to refrain from calling it assisted suicide because people who want this option or support it are not suicidal they are actually already dying due to their terminal illness.

Why is this artist discussing my social issue?
Is this person credible in regards to this issue?
How was this art piece made?

I am unable to answer these questions as my cartoon does not provide an author and the band who wrote the song does not directly talk about death with dignity I just drew a connection between the song and the social issue.  Some background information about the band Dead by Sunrise is that they are a band that formed in 2005 and were previously known as Snow White Tan.  Chester is one of the guys in the band and he is actually in Linkin Park as well.

The piece of art that I believe is the most creative or relative to this issue is the cartoon I found.  The song is great but does not directly correlate to the social issue without someone having prior knowledge or being able to compare the two while the cartoon is written to convey to the viewer that people who oppose death with dignity are ridiculous and promote suffering.
