Part 1

The song I chose for my social issue is called Needle and The Damage Done by Neil Young

Song: Needle and the Damage Done by Neil Young

Genre: Folk Rock

Needle and the Damage Done is a song by Neil Young that describes the destruction caused by heroin addiction of musicians he knew. Thought the song is not describing him it refers to his former band mate and friend Danny Whitten. Neil Young also refers to the song relating a roadie who died because of heroin addiction during his music tour.

The lyrics are referring to Danny on how he became addicted to heroin. Through his addiction he lost his part in the band. Also how heroin has taken another man’s life and the damage that has done.
