Hard Work

Part 1:
The title of the song I chose to write about is called "We are Mexico" by Becky G. She made this song when the whole Donald Trump idea to deport immigrants was all over the media. The genre of Becky G's music is Latin pop and pop-rap. This song is about how immigrants work hard, sometimes work double time, they work till their hands hurt just to pay their bills. Is talking about the life of an immigrant how they don't give up and always keep it pushing to bring bread to the table. Becky G was one of the many Latin artists to join the Latin voice in response to Donald Trump anti immigrant comments. I found the video on YouTube with the lyrics.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJuutnlc7dQ

The art piece I chose was Wet Dreams, a painting by Juan Carlos Marcias. This painting is displayed in the National Museum. With this picture he is describing the code-switching of crossing the border from being Mexican, to what people consider  a white-washed Mexican. (Juan Carlos Marcias)

Part 2:
Becky G is a Mexican American artist. Both her parents are Mexican but she was born and raised in Inglewood. Due to financial struggles her parents were forced to sell their home. Her parents started working double shifts coming home late night affected her. As she grew up she wanted to earn money to help out. Now as a singer she discusses the life of an immigrant, she out of everyone knows exactly what is like to live in that condition, she is always discussing how proud she is to be a Mexican American and how good it would be for everyone to be treated equally.

Juan Carlos Marcias is a Mexican artist his art is described as people being pulled out from their reality, He has studied art in United States, Mexico and France. He lives in Mexico and he never forgets where he came from. His painting represent immigrants experiences.

Both the musician I chose and the artist are both credible to my social issue. Becky G is really talented and most of us can relate to her because she's young and she's  from Inglewood California. Juan Carlos is very talented, all his paintings are very good. Just by looking at the painting will know what he's trying to tell us. His painting speak for themselves.

The song was written by herself Becky G. There is a music video for this song which is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bE-U1HQl-o8  . This song is well known among Latinos. Her YouTube video got 1,342,364 views.

I am not really sure how long it took Juan Carlos Marcia to do his wet dream painting. I couldn't find information on how long it took him. But from the looks of it I can tell he took his time because it looks amazing! I think this piece is very effective. He did a great job.

' GET UP STAND UP '

My song that relates to my topic issue is 'Get up Stand up' by Bob Marley. The summary of the song is the lyrics for the 1973 track were he and Peter Tosh had written the song at. Peter Tosh was also influenced by their Jamaican upbringing. The song is basically about the fight for acceptance of their Rastafarian religion and the need to take action to avoid "oppression" much of the inspiration appears to have come from another song ' slippin into Darkness' by war. The meaning behind the lyrics can be interpreted as both religious and anti religious depending on your point of view. "Get up, Stand up', Stand up for your rights" can be seen as a rallying call to stand up and demand respect for the Rastafarian religion. " Preacher man don't tell me, heaven is under the earth, I know you don't know, what life is really worth.

The major ways the poster can establish credibility is through the artistry of the photograph and the accuracy of the quote/ writing. The quote is well known, Marley's quote so the poster comes off as a credible. Bob Marley is on of the most famous and well liked artist in Jamaican history, his credibility established in now well liked the piece is. One of my famous quotes by Bob Marley is " How long must I protest the same thing?" asked Bob Marley in 1978. " I sing ' Get up Stand up' and up til now people don't get up, so must I sing ' Get up Stand up'? ....I want people to live big and have enough.

PART 1

The song that i chose for my social issue is call SAY MY NAME ANTI BULLYING SONG by The Glenn Marias band. The song is about standing up to people, have your name be said and not be label  for what they think you are. To not let those names control your life. To be seen as the person in front of them. In the lyrics "look at me and say my name" are very powerful because he is referring to i am a person i have a name and its not the name you are labeling me. This song applies to my social issue, because as a bully victim, i went through a similar thing were i was having names called at me and whenever i saw myself in the mirror all i saw in the mirror were those names. Bully's think its okay to label people, to have "special" names for them. To have them lose their person, their face and just see the names they are being label. But in actuality its not, those names take away from a person so much more than they think. We were given a name for a reason. Just because we there are smart people they shouldn't be label as geeks, or if someone dresses different doesn't make them freaks, it makes them unique and individuals.

The art piece that I chose i found it on google search images, I'm not sure who did it or whats it called. But for now lets call it STOP BULLYING. This piece represents a girl who the top half of her body is naked, with her arms crossed over her chest, her body, arms, and face are cover with hurtful words, and a big piece of what might be tape over her mouth and in bold capital letters STOP BULLYING. It represents all the words that a person can be called or what a person can call someone. Its a very powerful black and white painting.

https://www.tes.com/lessons/WWKPh1Akcj1cZQ/bullying?redirect-bs=1

PART 2

In The "Glenn Marias Band" Glenn Maras is the lead singer. He is an artist who uses his music to speak out against injustice and inequality using a powerful thing and way. His voice and through music. He is a singer/song writer "whose words offer hope and strength in times of despair and  uncertainty."

I'm not sure if he himself experience bullying but i know that he uses his voice to make a difference, to get a message across. He is  "the voice of the people, a voice for change". He gives the voice to people who can not speak up or stand up for themselves. He gets the issues and turns them into songs. For example his anti-bullying song SAY MY NAME.

I think the song was written by Glenn for the campaign SAY MY NAME CANADA with a music video that involve staff and students from Huron Heights S.S. The song is a very powerful song, it makes think of the times you call someone a name even if was just joking around, those names can be very powerful and do so much more than you think.

This assignment was very hard for me because it was difficult to find a song that pertained directly to the social issue of death with dignity.  I searched many different things such as "songs related to death with dignity social issue" and also tried searching "songs related to ending suffering".  Many songs I found were mainly about experiencing the death of a loved one or heartbreak of a breakup but then I stumbled along a song called "My Suffering" by Dead by Sunrise.  Although this song is not primarily about the social issue of death with dignity I believe the lyrics can be applied to this social issue.  Here is a link to the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfP_3CdOS3w
The reason this song relates to the social issue of death with dignity is because it talks about someone who is suffering and how they dream to not suffer any longer.  This is how someone who is ill and cannot make the decision to die with dignity most likely feels.  Someone who does not have a choice at least to end their suffering most likely feels lost and hopeless which is why it is so important to have this option.  One lyric says "I've seen the devil in a smile.  I found salvation in a vial.  My happy ending exists.  Only in my dreams"  The vial they could be speaking about although this could relate to a drug addict as well could be the vile of their medication that will let them stop suffering and die peacefully.

The piece of art that I found in regards to this social issue is a cartoon comic that is shown above.  The woman's sign says "Support the Right to Die" and the man's sign says " I support the right to needlessly suffer".  This relates to the social issue of death with dignity because most people who oppose people having this option do not have reasoning besides religious reasoning.  People who oppose this are literally saying that people should have to suffer when already terminally ill for no reason whatsoever.  The only thing I do not agree with or like about this comic is the button on the woman's shirt that says "Yes to assisted suicide".  I do not agree with the pin on her shirt most supporters of Death with Dignity try to refrain from calling it assisted suicide because people who want this option or support it are not suicidal they are actually already dying due to their terminal illness.

Why is this artist discussing my social issue?
Is this person credible in regards to this issue?
How was this art piece made?

I am unable to answer these questions as my cartoon does not provide an author and the band who wrote the song does not directly talk about death with dignity I just drew a connection between the song and the social issue.  Some background information about the band Dead by Sunrise is that they are a band that formed in 2005 and were previously known as Snow White Tan.  Chester is one of the guys in the band and he is actually in Linkin Park as well.

The piece of art that I believe is the most creative or relative to this issue is the cartoon I found.  The song is great but does not directly correlate to the social issue without someone having prior knowledge or being able to compare the two while the cartoon is written to convey to the viewer that people who oppose death with dignity are ridiculous and promote suffering.

Roxanne & Victims of Modern-Day Slavery

Part One:
Song: Roxanne
Artist: The Police
Genre: Altern. Rock

“Roxanne”, is a prostitute. The song talks about the lead singer, Sting,  being in love with her and that he wants her to change her ways. He tells her that she doesn’t have to “wear that dress tonight, walk the streets for money.” She doesn’t “have to put on the red light,” meaning she doesn’t have to put herself on the market anymore.

Sting said “Roxanne” was a serious song about a real relationship. He talks about how he would treat her right, leading to think that she wasn’t treated right when she was a prostitute.

Art: Victims of Modern-Day Slavery  (Photo 11)
Artist: Jon Lowenstein
Genre: Photography

The photograph shows a living situation from an abandoned slave-labor camp. The slave-labor camp held Mexican migrants, forcing them to work in vegetable and citrus fields. They earned $20 a week, for working almost an entire week over 10 hours a day. At the end of a long day, they get to sleep on a single mattress along with others in one room.

Part  2:
Song
Sting, the lead signer of “The Police”, discusses my social issue because he had a personal experience with a prostitute. He fell in love, and he wanted her to change her ways, get away from her old life. He noticed she wasn’t treated right, which is why he promised that he will.

The Police is a famous rock band. When they got interviewed for this song Sting said, "I felt very strongly about 'Roxanne' because that was a serious song about a real relationship. There was no talk about f------ in it, it wasn't a smutty song in any sense of the word. It was real song with a real, felt, lyric and they wouldn't play it, on the grounds that it was about a prostitute. But write a silly song about f------, that hasn't got the word 'f------' in it and you've got a hit. It gets a bit depressing.", it makes it seem believable that he wrote the song with emotion and feelings.

Art
Jon is committed to his work. For 10 years he documented gun violence in Chicago, and experienced of undocumented immigrants. He states that his subjects are “people who have been left behind by the global market or are being used by the global market.” Jon wants to the issue of human trafficking and engage people on a personal and emotional level, which is why I think he is a credible source.

Jon met some people that were victims of modern-day slavery that led him to the abandoned slave-labor camp. He thought it was important to show where people are put and what they look like.

Part 1

The song i chose to use for my social issue is Death Cab for Cutie - Champagne from a paper cup. The song is about a man who clearly isn’t pleased with the way his life is going and resorts to alcohol to pass the time. The opening lyrics: “I think I'm drunk enough to drive you home now” are really what made me decide to choose this piece. Understanding the reference, we assume he means that he is drunk enough not to care anymore. That alcohol has become the escape from reality that allows him to get by the “rough” times. The reason this applies so well to my social issue is that, this seems to be the cause for majority of drunk driving incidents across the world. People think that drinking will solve all of their problems or at least get them by, but in reality it just hurts them or others even more. People attain a confidence boost while drinking which makes them think that they are suitable to drive, until chaos ensues and they cause more problems then they started with before drinking.

The piece of art i decided to go with is: Painting intoxicated at 100 MPH - by Alexandra Pacula. Her painting is of a bright new york city night with everything at a blur. She states that “My work investigates a world of visual intoxication” it captures moments of enchantment, which are associated with urban nightlife." I chose to go with this piece, simply because of the fact it illustrates what you would see when driving drunk. It shows how discombobulated objects may look when you are intoxicated and how altered your perception really is.

http://www.mymodernmet.com/profiles/blogs/painting-intoxicated-at-100

Part 2

In “Death Cab for Cutie” Ben Gibbard the lead singer is very credible when it comes to his work. He is well known for using his past experiences in his songs and has been called “a lyrical genius” from other artists. When it comes to Gibbard’s background, I noticed that he did in fact have a drinking problem. Such a problem that it actually cost him his marriage. In relation to the song, i think he may have been implying that he was drunk enough to stand the unhappy relationship that he was in. That the alcohol provided an escape away from his crappy reality.

Whether or not he is a credible source on the issue, he has definitely had his instances with it. We go back to when he lost his wife. I imagine that wasn't the most pleasant time and I'm sure he probably resorted to alcohol because of it. When he applies these life occurrences to his songs it really gives people something to relate to. Whether or not people want to listen, they are just naturally drawn to his lyrics essentially making him a credible source.

I couldn't find a source that would specifically state who wrote the song, but it was indeed written by the band itself. There is a music video for the song which contains over 73,000 views. The band being pretty well known, justifies why it has so many views. In the music video we see a car aimlessly driving to nowhere. The camera seems to be blurred as well maybe signifying that he was portrayed to be drunk. In relation to its importance, i think this song relates to a lot of people out there. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsnKZjdQuDA

Heroin Addiction

Part 1

The song I chose for my social issue is called Needle and The Damage Done by Neil Young

Song: Needle and the Damage Done by Neil Young

Genre: Folk Rock

Needle and the Damage Done is a song by Neil Young that describes the destruction caused by heroin addiction of musicians he knew. Thought the song is not describing him it refers to his former band mate and friend Danny Whitten. Neil Young also refers to the song relating a roadie who died because of heroin addiction during his music tour.

The lyrics are referring to Danny on how he became addicted to heroin. Through his addiction he lost his part in the band. Also how heroin has taken another man’s life and the damage that has done.

Part 2

Neil Young is singing about this social issue because he lost a friend and former band mate Danny Whitten to heroin addiction. Neil Young is a Canadian musician that has been active since the 1960’s. During his music career Neil Young experience and saw many musicians who became drug addicts and lost their lives and careers because of their drug addictions. In 1972 Neil Young friend Danny Whitten lost his life because of his drug addiction. Neil Young became involved by producing and writing Needle and the Damage Done to reach out to people about the heroin addiction and the problems that causes. This song was recorded at Royce Hall, UCLA in January 30, 1971 and released February 1, 1972. The song is written and produce by Neil Young.

GMO Dangers - GMOs Are No Good by Musical Spa Evolution

Humanity vs The Machine by Mear One (Kalen Ockerman)

The song GMO Dangers is in the genre of Island/reggae music. The song speaks of the dangers that GMOs poses. It explains the effects of GMOs on the environment and to humans. The song tells people to just say no to GMOs. With the lyric, “There was a time when children were healthy there were no toxins, obesity or allergies,” could imply that all those things are the result of GMOs in our diets. The creator of this song urges that “now its time to stop insanity stop the lies and live gmo free.” The art piece is a mural that was painted on the side of a building. The image is divided into two pieces. On the left is a polluted GMO world with an all seeing eye at the top. The right depicts a clear clean sky. There is a family extending their arms in a way that shows them saying no to the GMO world. The family is standing in a area with naturally growing flowers and vegetables. The left side shows an elite controlling the world by controlling the food sources. The right has clean energy and naturally growing foods with the sun shinning peacefully on the landscape.

Musical Spa Evolution is a group of new age composers that believe in creating a better world. They believe music is a powerful ally in changing the view of individuals. They feel that the world can benefit from the music they produce. Becoming parents inspired the group to make the world a better place for their children. Ivan the music producer and engineer graduated from Berklee College of Music. The song GMO Dangers was created by the Group Musical Spa Evolution. The video helps to enforce the dangers of GMOs. With 8,000 views on Youtube the song is not very popular. All the text on the video was more effective to me than the song its self. Mear One is an activist who mainly challenges politics. For over 30 plus years he has been  voicing his opinion through art. He is a well known public muralist in LA. His work has been shown at the 01 Gallery on Melrose and at 33 1/3 Gallery in Silverlake. This specific piece is on the side of The Wood Cafe in Culver City. The artist first sketch the pice with pencil on paper then spray painted his work on the building. It being an image is what makes it effective. The visual relationship between big corporations in bed with the government. Against the people who want to live a clean healthy life.

Blogger # 5 - Social issue Song / Art

The song I chose to represent my social issue is Rise Against - Ready to Fall. This song may seem like it has nothing to do with my issue in particular, but it is about animal rights and the destruction of the planet. Animal rights is so broad, that I chose to narrow it down to the overpopulation and abandonment issue. No matter what aspect of abuse you're dealing with, it all ties back to destruction of our planet, and damage to those who inhabit it. The chorus goes as follows:

Now I'm standing on the rooftop
Now I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall
I'm think I'm at the edge now but I could be wrong
I'm standing on the rooftop ready to fall

I is mother nature, she is on the edge and can't take much more. She has had enough. We keep pushing her further and further with our actions, and we will not know how bad it is until it is too late. Or rather, we will not care until it is too late.

The art piece I chose was originally a photo taken by Clay Myers, and turned into an art piece by Shepard Fairey, best known for his street art clothing line, OBEY. It is pretty simple, but says a lot. It is a picture of a dog, who looks sad with the word adopt below it, in giant letters. This dog is just a symbol of the many animals who suffer abandonment, being killed, and abused and go unheard. Shepard is known for speaking up for victims of injustice, and the use of his style of art in this particular piece made it stand out to me. He used the same form he always uses, regardless of race or in this case, species. Dogs like this one, and many other animals housed in shelters, are victims of circumstance.

PART 2

Tim Mcilrath of Rise Against has been a vegan since the age of 18, which is when he became educated about the meat industry's practices. He believes that eating meat is inhumane, and that animals in captivity are robbed of their freedom. He chooses to integrate his beliefs in his lyrics to get his message across and fight against the abuse.

He has become educated on the issue and has decided to lead by example by refraining from eating meat. He is a vegan, and by doing this, he practices what he preaches. He stands up for what he believes it, and it is important enough for him to go public and educate others about it, He himself has done research about the meat industry and other forms of abuse.

The lyrics were written by the band. The music video gives the message a boost, as the lyrics may not easily be interpreted. The images may be too graphic for some viewers, but it reveals the reality of what we are doing to our planet and the animals who live here with us, He screams certain parts of the song, which shows emotion and the seriousness of the issue, It was played on radio stations such as KROQ, and draws the listener in to watch the video, which explains his point.

Shepard Fairey is the artist who created the picture of the dog. He s known for his art work both on the streets, and on the products he sells such as stickers, shirts, sweaters, and much more.

He is the creator of the OBEY brand. He is an activist an a humanitarian, and actively donates and creates art for groups and charities such as Chiapas Relief fund, Feeding America, and Adopt-a-Pet. His clothing is popular not only for it's looks, but for the messages the images portray.

I couldn't find much about how long it took to make this image, but it was made graphically. A photograph was taken and edited to get what it is now. The colors and the style stand out because this is his signature style. He uses this same style for all of his works, and when you see something in this artistic font, you know it is about rights being violated. It is about pain. It is about injustice, and doing something about it. You know Shepard was there.

Part 1 looking at the product

Make It Stop” otherwise known as “September’s children” played by “Rise Against” written by “Tim Mcilrath” the lead singer of “Rise Against” the genre being punk rock with elements of pop rock and melodic hardcore. The song is about anti-bullying. It’s about the horrific events that occurred September of 2010 when a string of suicides occurred because of homophobic bullying. The meaning of the song is to stop bullying, to let it get better. The main lyrics are “Make it stop. Let this end. Eighteen years pushed to the ledge.” What this is saying is that because of bullying and the fact that it wasn’t stopped that a teenager was push to the brink of suicide. Another part of the song that brings attention to this subject is “And too much blood has flown from the wrists, Of the children shamed for those they chose to kiss. Who will rise to stop the blood?” this section’s meaning stands for the large quantity of suicides that have occurred and all because the children that chose to be gay and idiots that chose to make fun and torment them because of that choice. Who will rise to stop the blood? Who’s going to stand up for them? Who’s going to help them? But the hardest hitting lyric this song uses is all the names of the children who committed suicides because of idiots who thought it was funny to plague them in their life.

Part 2 looking at the composer

The major reason that “Tim Mcilrath” decided to write and sing this song was because he found out that a lot of their fans were unsure about how they felt about if there fans were gay. With this question being ask it broke his heart that his fans would even question for a second where they stand on this subject. This drove him to the studio to begin work on this song and with the events of September occurring around this time it made him realize that their needs to be a song about this. The other reason was because he knew that the rock scene in general does not discusses about things like this. I personally believe that he is highly credible because he took the time to write this song and not just that but he worked with the program “it gets better project”. I believe that him at a personal level he has no history with bullying but that doesn’t mean that he cannot speak up for those that are silent about what is really going on. As for the process of making this song and music video “Tim Mcilrath” wrote the song the song is performed by “Rise Against” and also the fact that they worked with the “It gets better project” makes his position a lot more credible. The message that he is trying to send out is “it can get better, give it a chance to get better, don’t end your life prematurely”. What makes this song effective is the emotions behind it, the support it gets, there is many people behind this movement.

Proposal: offer housing, transportation and financial assistance in order to assist terminally ill patients who wish to die with dignity the means to do so.

Breakdown: Most people who are terminally ill are unable to afford relocating their lives to one of the five states where assisted suicide is legal. In order to qualify for assisted suicide you must be a resident of the state which means completely uprooting your life and living somewhere for typically a year before you are eligible.  Many people whom are terminally ill are already in a large amount of debt due to their medical bills, hospice nurse fees etc and cannot fathom being able to relocate to qualify for death with dignity. This organization called Dignity will help fund the relocation and expenses of terminally ill patients in order to be able to participate in assisted suicide. Not only will this organization help fund this they will also campaign and raise awareness in hopes that other states will soon legalize assisted suicide. People deserve to be remembered by their families as alive and full of life rather than dying on a hospital bed.  Also, patients deserve to not suffer for extended periods of time due to their illnesses as well.

Budget:
Houses in various states where assisted suicide is available so that patients and family members can establish residency
Counseling offered to patient and their families so that they may come to terms with their decision
Hospice nurses that make sure their patients are comfortable until they decide they can longer endure the pain
Medication expenses so that patients can die in the most humane way

U.N. Proposal

In order to cause effective change, we would like to request 150 million dollars, your power, and influence. With this amount of funds we can stop kids and teens from being hurt.

The End to Cyber Bullying organization was founded in 2011 by Samuel Lam and David Zhao, we are a non-profit organization, and we were formed with one mission: to end cyber bullying by raising awareness and educating children, parents, and teachers and also offering help and sympathy for students who are being bullied online. We have an office in New York and our address as well as our contact information are available on our website. You can also visit our website to donate or volunteer. We now have thousands of volunteers all over the world who are dedicated to make the internet and social media safe for kids and teens. We have traveled to middle schools and high schools throughout the world to teach kids and teens how to prevent cyberbullying and what to do if cyberbullying does happen. Ever since we were founded, we have partnered with Sears, Girl scouts of the USA, solutions for bullying, Long Island Volunteer Center, and Jericho public schools. We wish to be partners with every school district in the U.S and Europe to further educate people on the dangers of cyberbullying. Our organization is the appropriate grantee because we are protecting your children from being harassed on the internet and social media so they can grow up being healthy and confident.

In modern day, almost every child and teen has a phone, computer, or tablet that they use to check their social media profiles on websites and apps such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, etc. the internet and social media are amazing sources for information and entertainment for kids and teens, but there is a dark side to the internet and social media. When a child or teens posts a photo of themselves, they can become easy targets for cyberbullying. If a teenage girl posts a photo on Instagram for example and she doesn’t physically appeal to another person, she will often be rudely and harshly criticized for her looks or if teenage boy of a specific race posts a photo of himself on Facebook, he will often receive racist comments. 25% of teenagers have been harassed online and 24% of cyberbullied youths have committed self-harm. Cyberbullying victims are more likely to avoid going to school out of fear of being physically harmed due to the threats they receive online. Teens can be bullied for different reasons such as their race, religion, physical appearance, rumors, or sexual orientation. Large news sources have noticed this and have reported on cases of cyberbullying that pushed the victim over the edge or have written articles on the topic of cyberbullying such as ABC news and CNN.

List of  some victims:

Tyler Clementi

Tyler was a shy 18-year-old who went to Rutgers University in New Jersey. He had a sexual encounter with a man in his dorm. This encounter was filmed without Tyler knowing and was uploaded online. He was teased about the video by his peers. He killed himself by jumping off of the George Washington Bridge on September 22, 2010.

Jessica Logan

Jessica was a high school senior from Ohio. She sent nude photos of herself to her boyfriend. When they broke up, he sent her nude photos to all of their school mates. She harassed online and in-person by the other girls at her school, she was called a slut and a whore. She would skip school and when she did she would hide in the bathroom. On July 3, 2008, her mother found her hanging in her closet with her phone lying on the floor nearby.

Kenneth Weishuhn Jr.

Kenneth was a gay high school freshman from Paullina, Iowa. He was bullied both online and in person. He was bullied by an anti-gay hate group on Facebook that was formed by his classmates and received death threats through text. Some of his bullies were once his friends. He killed himself in 2012.

Amanda Todd

Amanda was a high school student from British Columbia, Canada. In the 7th grade, she was pressured by a man in an online chat room to expose her breasts to him. She fell for the pressure and did as he said. Her topless picture was posted online and was seen by all of her classmates. She transferred schools twice because the bullying was so bad but the bullying followed her. Amanda attempted suicide twice but failed. She was sent pictures of bottles of bleach by the other students provoking her to attempt suicide again. She committed suicide on October 10, 2012.

The project that we have in mind will use the funds to pay for services for the victims of cyberbullying such as emotional therapy and bullying hotlines to be put into schools. We don’t just need money, we need help from the world’s leaders to pass anti-cyberbullying laws across the world so that cyberbullying can be just as punishable as real life bullying. We will also need the help of the social media companies such as Facebook, twitter, and Instagram to start monitoring online harassment. If this project can begin, we expect to see a steep decline in suicides among kids and teens.

The services for victims of cyberbullying will come first in the middle of next year. Then the laws against cyberbullying, with your help, will be passed by the end of next year. With the help of social media companies, we will start monitoring online harassment by the end of next year.

1.      Half of the money will go to victims of bullying hotline

2.      The other half will go to emotional therapy services in schools across the world

Safe House Proposal

Summary

Dear chairperson as you know domestic violence ignores race, age, religion, boarders, and sex, the proposal presented covers cost for housing, meals, clothing medical, attorney fees, transportation, insurances, licensing, maintenance, and administration cost.

Organization or Representative Description & History

Sanctuary is an organization committed in furnishing Safe houses across the United States for domestic violence victims.  Our Headquarter is located in Long beach CA, established in December 1965. Our commitment is to offer housing, counseling, medical, psychiatric, attorneys assistance and transportation to all individuals needing our help.  Born from domestic violence our founder established the first safe house in 1965 she then assisted her neighbor, mother of three left beaten in the streets of long beach with three children at her side. Bringing her in to her home she began a path of no return. With the first mother she brought in to the next and so on. Recruiting first her family members then volunteers in the community. She soon began the sanctuary organization. This organization grew under her leadership; the number of safe houses grew to 36 across the United States. Working with state and federal government, law firms and small business she has been able to attain grants and loans to provide basic needs to all victims.

Social Issue Background

In California, its crime for anyone to threaten, beat, sexually assault or harm another person, even if they are married. Domestic violence is not only a crime against women, but they are the majority affected. One in every two families in the United States has seen domestic violence in one time or another. Domestic violence is a repetitive pattern in people’s lives. Victims and witnesses of domestic violence in childhood are mostly likely to repeat such acts as adults. The current culture of domestic violence cannot be tolerated. Too many women are beaten and killed. Too many children are abused or killed. Too many mothers and children are made homeless. There is a way out! Victims do not need to submit and lead a life of tension between calm and storm.  There should be somewhere these victims can go for sanctuary.
