              #2 ANALYSIS OF PIECE

  • #1 THE MEANINGS OF BOB MARLEYS SONGS.....CONNOTATION
[ quote]  Most people think great god will come from the sky
Take away everything and make everybody feel high
But if you know what life is worth
You would look for yours on earth
And now you see the light
You stand up for your right, YEAH!

  • The promise that was stated in " so jah seh'  is still there, but we have to want it for ourselves. "The preaching and talking is done we've got to live up"

  • #2 RESPONSE/COMMENTARY TO SOCIAL ISSUE
  •         This song is about taking action to avoid oppression. Marley wrote with Peter Tosh, and the song was influenced by their upbringing in Jamaica, where they had to fight for respect, and acceptance for their Rastafarian religion. The song was based on "Slippin into darkness" by the band war. A lot of orthodox believers are particularly find of Bob Marley song " Get up stand up for your rights" a song so Christian, and therefore so shockingly anti-religious, that attempts have been made by some to portray it as satanic when the very opposite is true!

Get Up Stand Up, Stand Up For Your Rights!

The word "Right" means not only political and economic rights. "Rights" translates the word "Zedek' , common to Hebrew, Amharic, and Ge'ez. It denotes perfect conformity with the love, "They sold Marcus Garvey for rights"

                                                  Stand up for rights

Stand up for rights is a good example for people dealing with structural violence and people that's dealing with 4 types of bullying, cyber, emotional, teen, and physical bullying. Standing up for your rights starts with knowing that you have the same rights as everyone else. It also means responding to situations where those rights are being compromised. I have good examples of what people should do to stand up and speak for themselves.

EXAMPLES ON HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT YOUR RIGHT
  1.    Refuse to do things that you are not comfortable of doing.
  2. When you are not being respected, demand that others treat you with respect.
  3. When others are pursuing you or otherwise giving you unwanted attention tell them that you don not want their company.
  4. Know that you can call upon others to help you defend your rights.
